Description Romain Janvier 2011-02-21 19:28:14 UTC
Description of problem:

Since yesterday, when I try to open a ps file with evince, I receive this
message :
(evince:4875): EvinceDocument-WARNING **: /usr/lib/libgs.so.8: undefined
symbol: TIFFCleanup

(evince:4875): EvinceDocument-WARNING **: Cannot load backend 'psdocument'
since file '/usr/lib/evince/2/backends/libpsdocument.so' cannot be read.

(evince:4875): EvinceDocument-WARNING **: /usr/lib/libgs.so.8: undefined
symbol: TIFFCleanup

(evince:4875): EvinceDocument-WARNING **: Cannot load backend 'psdocument'
since file '/usr/lib/evince/2/backends/libpsdocument.so' cannot be read.

And on the evince window, it says that application/postscript are not readable
with evince.

The 2 files /usr/lib/libgs.so.8 and /usr/lib/evince/2/backends/libpsdocument.so
are perfectly readable :
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 11728 6 janv. 12:16
/usr/lib/evince/2/backends/libpsdocument.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root      13 21 févr. 19:24 /usr/lib/libgs.so.8 ->
libgs.so.8.71
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 7096156 13 sept. 17:59 /usr/lib/libgs.so.8.71

Evince works fine with pdf files and ghostscript doesn't have any problem
opening ps files.

I've made a "yum update" yesterday and didn't noticed if
evince was updated. I've tried a downgrade of both evince and ghostscript but it didn't changed anything.

According to a guy on the evince team, it's a problem with the fedora version of libgs.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
I'm using fedora 13 with
evince-nautilus-2.30.3-2.fc13.i686
evince-2.30.3-2.fc13.i686
evince-libs-2.30.3-2.fc13.i686
ghostscript-8.71-16.fc13.i686

How reproducible:
Anytime I open a postscript file.

Steps to Reproduce:
Just open a postscript file.

I've solved the problem. Evince wasn't working because I installed Interwrite Workspace. I've uninstalled it and evince now works perfectly.
