Description Jarkko 2011-02-22 12:01:17 UTC
At openSUSE Build Service they have a RedHat_RHEL-6 repository.

We can't build any el6 packages against PHP there because it seems the standard el6 channel doesn't contain php-devel for some reason: rpmbuild just says "nothing provides php-devel".

This is most likely some sort of failure or human error because e.g. httpd-devel is there.

Thanks for contacting us. php-devel is available in the "Optional" repository, which must be enabled in RHN.

# yum whatprovides php-devel

php-devel-5.3.2-6.el6.x86_64 : Files needed for building PHP extensions
Repo : rhel-x86_64-server-optional-6

Told about this for the openSUSE Build Service guys and got this response:

"AFAIK we are not allowed to provide packages from RHN legal wise"
"can you ask if that is okay legal wise ?"

Comment 4 Joe Orton 2011-02-22 14:42:27 UTC
This is entirely the wrong forum for Novell to be asking Red Hat legal questions.
