Description David Le Sage 2011-02-23 23:25:32 UTC
Description of problem:
When I launched RhythmBox via the Live CD, it reported that the cover art plug in is missing.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Fedora 15 Live CD Nightly Build 23/2/2011 (http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/nightly-composes/desktop/)

How reproducible:
Every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log into the GNOME Shell.
2. Launch RhythmBox.

Actual results:
Error message appears related to the Cover Art plug in.

Expected results:
Should be no error messages.

Additional info:
I wasn't sure if this was a bug or simply that the plug-in was omitted from the Live CD to save space.

Comment 1 Aron Parsons 2011-03-21 17:07:09 UTC
The cover art plugin still won't load with the latest version of Rhythmbox, rhythmbox-2.90.1-5.git20110316.fc15.x86_64.

Comment 2 Rifester 2011-04-19 00:00:54 UTC
I can also confirm this behavior is present in installed Fedora 15. Cover art plugin error upon selection.

Comment 3 Gerry 2011-05-21 20:43:34 UTC
The Plugin Error message: Unable to activate plugin Cover art still occurs after upgrading to rhythmbox 2.90.1-6.git20110328.fc15.x86_64...

While Cover art plugin will not start up when rhythmbox is launched, I can manually start the plugin by clicking Edit -> Plugins -> Cover art. Once started this way, the Cover art plugin works fine until the next time I restart rhythmbox...
After each rhythmbox restart, the Plugin Error message returns and I must manually enable the Cover art plugin.

Comment 4 Gerry 2011-05-26 01:42:44 UTC
Here is the result from rhythmbox -d which shows the failure:

File "/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/gi/overrides/__init__.py", line 20, in __setitem__
    info = getattr(value, '__info__')
AttributeError: type object 'FileEnumerator' has no attribute '__info__'

(rhythmbox:2249): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: Could not load plugin artdisplay

(21:35:45) [0x18f5060] [rb_python_module_finalize] rb-python-module.c:320: Finalizing python module (null)

(rhythmbox:2249): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: Error, impossible to activate plugin 'Cover art'
(21:35:45) [0x18f5060] [plugin_manager_set_active] rb-plugin-manager.c:302: Could not activate Cover art.

Comment 5 Steve 2011-05-31 15:59:49 UTC
The bug is fixed in rhythmbox-2.90.1-10.git20110502.fc15.

Comment 6 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 15:10:06 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
