Description of problem:
% rpm -ql iwl5000-firmware
/lib/firmware/iwlwifi-5000-1.ucode
/lib/firmware/iwlwifi-5000-5.ucode

However, the Linus kernel, linux-next, and Rawhide kernels all still have this code in them:
#define IWL5000_UCODE_API_MAX 2

Which means it won't find the -2 version that isn't shipped anymore.

For rawhide, run "yum update"... :-)

Package iwl5000-firmware-8.83.5.1-2.fc15:
* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora 15 updates-testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing iwl5000-firmware-8.83.5.1-2.fc15'
as soon as you are able to, then reboot.

iwl5000-firmware-8.83.5.1-2.fc15 has been pushed to the Fedora 15 testing repository.  If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report.
 If you want to test the update, you can install it with
