Description Konstantin Olchanski 2011-03-01 23:53:15 UTC
Description of problem:

RHEL5 lm_sensors do not work on recent ASUS mobos (P7P55D, etc). Aparently access to sensors data requires the special ACPI driver asus_atk0110 which is present in recent vanilla linux kernels, but is absent in the RHEL5.5 kernels (i.e. 2.6.18-194.32.1.el5). Attempts to compile this driver on a RHEL5.5 system produce many compilation errors, internet search of RHEL5.5 compatible driver is unsuccessful.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel 2.6.18-194.32.1.el5

Expected results:

lm_sensors ought to work on recent ASUS mobos. Please backport the asus_atk0110 driver to the RHEL5 kernels. Thanks in advance.

Please be advised, that Bugzilla is not a support tool. It is an
Engineering and Community tool. So although all changes to Enterprise
Linux go through Bugzilla and Red Hat considers issues directly entered
into Bugzilla valuable feedback, there is no SLA around it.

If this is a production issue, please report it to your Red Hat Support contact.

Thank you.

This issue is resolved in RHEL 6.0 - correct operation of lm_sensors is confirmed on ASUS P7P55D and other mobos. K.O.
