Description David Le Sage 2011-03-02 03:26:34 UTC
Description of problem:
When I launch this program, a host of error messages appear. It is trying to open every folder in my home directory, generating an error for each of these.

Furthermore, this is quite an old application but has not progressed past version 0.7.1 for several years and still relies on KDE 3 libraries. The Help->About page points to http://linux-life.net/program/cc/kde/app/kreetingkard/ which does not load. The http://linux-life.net website no longer seems to exist at all so this application should probably be deprecated.

It would be great for Linux to have a PrintShop Pro-style application but, sadly, this one does not seem to be progressing.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kreetingkard-0.7.1-4.fc15.1.x86_64

How reproducible:
Every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. yum install kreetingkard
2. Launch kreetingkard

Actual results:
"File open error" dialogue appears for every subdirectory under /home/username

Expected results:
Should launch.

As per the comments, it does not seem likely that there will be a KDE 4 version.

Comment 2 Mamoru TASAKA 2011-03-02 16:56:48 UTC
* I don't see such error on F-15. Would you write more specific?
* As long as Fedora supports qt3, for now I want to keep this app
  on Fedora.

I hope these screenshots are of help in diagnosing the problem. An error message appears for every directory, so you have to click "OK" on each one before KreetingKard will launch.

Comment 7 Mamoru TASAKA 2011-03-02 22:18:24 UTC
Sorry, but just attaching screenshot is not informative. Would
you provide me how to reproduce the issue you see?

Comment 8 David Le Sage 2011-03-02 22:24:37 UTC
1. Undertake a fresh installation of Fedora 15 RC 2 from the 64 bit DVD. Include KDE in the installation. (I had /home on a separate partition, so there are existing directories there for personal files.)

3. su

4. yum install kreetingkard

5. From an XTerm, as a normal user, launch by typing

kreetingkard

6. Error messages appear immediately.

Comment 9 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 17:26:26 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
