Description David Le Sage 2011-03-02 04:48:37 UTC
Description of problem:
Amarok cannot play audio CDs. If I insert a CD, it is mounted correctly and recognised by both Dolphin under KDE and Nautilus under GNOME. If I try to launch Amarok and play the CD, it will not load.

Also, if I use the "Most recent device" item in the KDE system tray, it too recognises that an audio CD is present and asks whether the user wants to play it in Amarok. If I click that button, nothing happens. CDs play correctly in other music applications.

According to the January 2011 version of the Amarok FAQ, "When you insert an audio CD, it will be shown as a local collection."

Source: http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/FAQ#How_do_I_play_audio-CDs

This does not happen. The "local collection" item remains empty.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
amarok-2.4.0-2.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
Every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Insert an audio CD. It is recognised and mounted by the desktop environment.
2. Launch Amarok.

Actual results:
It does not recognise the audio CD. There is no way to mount or play it in this app. The CD does not appear as a local collection.

Expected results:
Should mount the CD and allow the user to play it.

Hi,

I have the exact same problem, in Fedora 15 too but the bug was already present in F14, IIRC.

Comment 2 Dominik Pospisil 2011-12-18 17:22:16 UTC
Having the same problem in F16. Audio CD playable using KsCD but Amarok just ignores them.

Comment 3 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 18:07:52 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
