Comment 1 Skippy 2011-03-04 15:45:33 UTC
Minimal example :

/* dummy.C *************/
#include <iostream>
#include <TApplication.h>
#include <TCanvas.h>

int main(int argc, char** argv)
{
        TApplication app("zap",&argc,argv);
        TCanvas a;
        std::cout << "Hello world !" << std::endl;
        return 0;
}
/***********************/

$ g++ dummy.C -o dummy `root-config --libs` -I/usr/include/root  && ./dummy
symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libAfterImage.so.0: undefined symbol: glXQueryExtension

Note that this example needs an installation of ROOT from cern.ch (at least root-core and root-graf-gpad, provided through by fedora repository).

Comment 2 Skippy 2011-03-04 16:20:01 UTC
Or just launch root.exe (again, with root-core and root-graf-gpad installed) and create a TCanvas :

$ root

Type ? for help. Commands must be C++ statements.
Enclose multiple statements between { }.
root [0] TCanvas a

Comment 3 Andreas Bierfert 2011-03-06 07:21:14 UTC
Do you see this with any packages from the fedora package collection?

Comment 4 Skippy 2011-03-07 11:33:37 UTC
Root-core and root-graf-gpad are part of the fedora package collection, and a quick google search failed to provide names of other programs depending on libAfterImage apart from rxvt-unicode, which dependency seems optional.

Should this report be duplicated to root package ?

*** Bug 683243 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***

Comment 6 Frank Schmitt 2011-03-08 22:00:09 UTC
I see the problem with rxvt-unicode.I have in .Xdefaults

Rxvt.backgroundPixmap: /home/fschmitt/nebula.xpm;0x0+50+50:tile
Rxvt.iconFile: /usr/share/pixmaps/apple-green.png

maybe those lines trigger it.

[~]$ urxvt
urxvt: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libAfterImage.so.0: undefined symbol: glXQueryExtension

[~]$ rpm -q libAfterImage
libAfterImage-1.20-1.fc13.i686
[~]$ rpm -q rxvt-unicode
rxvt-unicode-9.10-1.fc13.i686

Comment 7 Frank Schmitt 2011-04-26 18:33:37 UTC
After upgrading from Fedora 13 to Fedora 14 this bug is fixed for me.

Comment 8 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-16 21:36:55 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
