Description Joseph D. Wagner 2011-03-06 03:20:54 UTC
Slax has a feature called "copy2ram" that copies all relevant file to ram. [http://www.slax.org/documentation_boot_cheatcodes.php] This allows the CD to be ejected, and it significantly speeds up performance once loaded because all I/O is from memory instead of CD.

I am requesting that feature be added to a future release.

Option "live_ram" is supposed to do exactly what you are asking for.

I just confirmed that live_ram works for the Fedora 14 live cd's when manually added to the boot options. In that case, could you add a menu option to the livecd boot loader for "live_ram"?

I think having an explicit menu option would 1) raise awareness of it, and 2) make it more user friendly for those who may be scared to edit boot/command-line options.

I'm withdrawing this request.
