Description ryo fujita 2011-03-09 06:58:03 UTC
Description of problem:
Technical Notes for RHEL5.5 and 5.6 include the following explanation.

When a cciss device is under high I/O load, the kdump kernel may panic and the vmcore dump may not be saved successfully. (BZ#509790)

http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/5/html/5.5_Technical_Notes/Known_Issues-kernel.html
http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/5/html/5.6_Technical_Notes/Known_Issues-kernel.html

But BZ509790 has been marked as dup of BZ525440 and BZ525440 has been resolved.
