Description Pierre-YvesChibon 2011-03-09 21:57:03 UTC
Description of problem:
On a fully updated F15 alpha, I started gajim but once the main window is closed, I cannot find it anymore.

If I do Activities > Search Gajim and click then it complains that there is already a gajim running.
If a friend log-in then I have the notification and I can talk to him/her. However if I want to see who is online and start a conversation I cannot find gajim's main window on gnome-shell.

I do have a tiny "gajim" in the bottom right, but when I click on it nothing happens.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
$ rpm -q gnome-shell gajim
gnome-shell-2.91.91-1.fc15.x86_64
gajim-0.14.1-4.fc15.noarch

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start gajim
2. close the main window
3. try to open the main window again

Actual results:
No way to see gajim's main window

Expected results:
Find a shortcut to display gajim's main window somewhere

Same problem, there's no icon present for Gajim in the notification area, I can see only a pixel instead of Gajim's icon.
However sometimes before updates, since Alpha RC2, Gajim's icon was present in the notification area and it was possible to re-open the roster.
Sorry no more information for moment.

Fedora 15 up to date. Seems to be a bug really strange.
Steps to reproduce my tests :
1. Open Terminal
2. $ gajim
3. Roster is present but not Gajim's icon in notification's area. (So if you close roster impossible to re-open it. Always a pixel)
4. Quit Gajim with menu entries from Roster or CTRL+C.

1. Always with Terminal
2. $ gajim
3. Roster is present but not Gajim's icon in notification's area. (So if you close roster impossible to re-open it. Always a pixel)
4. Click at the top right of the Roster to close it. (So impossible to re-open it, always a pixel)
5. Quit Gajim with CTRL+C in Terminal.
6. $ gajim
7. Gajim's icon is present in notification's area.(I tried with account activate and not. Works each time with this process)

So it possible to obtain Gajim's icon in notifications's area but not in normal use.

Works fine since last updates of Gnome-Shell but icon is cut in notification area now.

How about in the latest version now?

Comment 5 Pierre-YvesChibon 2011-04-07 13:14:59 UTC
It actually works for me :-)

Thanks!

Works but always Gajim's icon cut in notification area. (Resolution 800x480 with EeePC 701).

Perhaps you can file a new bug report on that? Attach a screenshot as well.
