Description Peter Bloomfield 2011-03-10 02:06:53 UTC
Description of problem:

Booting the F15-alpha live USB on my ThinkPad T43 (ATI Technologies Inc M22 [Mobility Radeon X300]), the display, keyboard, touchpad, everything freezes when the Gnome-shell display is complete. I can move the cursor with the touchpad until the moment when the top bar is shown.

Booting with vesa succeeds, I guess because it uses the panel instead of the shell.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Don't know, can't boot it.

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot the f15-alpha live usb
2.  Watch it freeze.
3.

Actual results:
Freeze.

Expected results:
Usable Gnome shell.

Thanks for the bug report. We have reviewed the information you have provided above, and there is some additional information we require that will be helpful in our diagnosis of this issue.

Please upgrade to the latest LiveISO from http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/nightly-composes/desktop/, add drm.debug=0x04 to the kernel command line, restart computer, and attach

* your X server config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf, if available),
* X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.*.log)
* output of the dmesg command, and
* system log (/var/log/messages)

to the bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the bugzilla file attachment link above.

We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information.

Thanks in advance.

I have no xorg.conf. I saved the output from dmesg, but it seems to have gotten trashed in a reinstall. Hope this is enough!

Comment 6 Dave Airlie 2011-03-14 22:37:46 UTC
this should be fixed in

kernel-2.6.38-0.rc8.git4.1.fc15

Though I've no idea when that will reach bodhi/livecd.

Comment 7 Dave Airlie 2011-03-16 00:57:05 UTC
should be fixed my the import of upstream kernel.

please re-open if this continues to happen.
