Not sure why this is a ras-utils bug? Can someone elaborate on why a package that is NOT even installable on ppc is causing errors? P. lsvpd seems more likely ... Those files are used by the vpdupdate to lookup the actual Vendor/Device Id of the device. We could add hwdata as a "Requires" for the lsvpd rpm so, the package gets installed as a dependency. Or we could just ignore the warning, just that additional information will be missing. 2) vpdupdate failing to find the Major/Minor code : <12>Mar 3 13:30:43 vpdupdate[2780]: vpdupdate: Failed retrieving Major/Minor code for device: /sys/devices/vio/30000003/host0 The messages appear for the SCSI host/target device entries. The vpdupdate code tries to collect additional information about the SCSI devices, which it shouldn't do for host/target entries. Ideally, it should exclude all such host/target entries. This was open from 6.1 onwards and the fix has already been provided to you. However we do not see the fix included in Beta1 also. Kindly take appropriate action. It would be good to have the dependency added as it will help the 'vpdupdate' looking up the PCI vendor/device codes to actual Manufacturer/Device Names.
