I can confirm this issue. I see a problem with utf8 encoded directory names. When I open these directories, Blender crashes.

I discovered that there is a bigger problem with my (czech) language. Some symbols like "č,ž,ě" are showed as two symbols (false conversion utf8 -> ISO). Confirm this issue by switching to a "Czech" in the "Language and font" from User Preferences.

This issue looks like a new bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug. It may be nice, if you can update blender to 2.49-8 or above and retry your test case.

Because, I have not a 32-bit system, if may be nice you can try out blender-2.49b-13.fc14 on your system.

Comment 8 Zdenek Janecek 2011-04-04 19:58:01 UTC
No change for me with blender-2.49b-13.fc14.i686. Still I reproduce SIGABRT:

1. Create directory "Obrázky"
2. Start blender
3. Open directory "Obrázky" (File -> Open)

I tried it in an another installation and Blender works. Czech symbols are still wrong, but blender doesn't crash now.
