Description of problem:
WHen running evolution under KDE some icons are missing.
Rather brutally evolution then crashes when I click calendar, complaining
that it cannot find gtk-missing-image.png

Old solutions on gnome 2.x included adding 
gtk-fallback-icon-theme = "gnome"
on the first line of 
/etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc 

This does not work anymore,
Similar edits to
/etc/gtk-3.0/settings.ini 
don't work.

What version of gtk3 ?

There was a problem related to builtin fallback icons, thats fixed in 3.0.3
