comment: after 1 above, opened a new gnome-terminal.  Top showed nothing interesting.  Since top frame of open windows indicated no window manager running, issued gnome-shell --replace & and the shell came back.  Found sig 6 event in abrt.  Note:  have nautilus --no-default-window running, invoked from startup-programs.

How to reproduce
-----
1. open gnome-keyring-properties
2. attempt to change password on keyring to empty
3. wait for insecure storage dialog to pop-over, attached to gnome-keyring-prompt
4. killall -9 gnome-keyring-prompt
5. crash
