switching to kernel, but jskarvad should be the right assignee... Is this something that just isn't going/able to be fixed at the fedora level? Is there any more reporting/testing I can do to help this get fixed, or is it just a matter of hoping it gets fixed in next kernel/distro update? Michael, is this still happening with the 2.6.43/3.3 kernel updates in F15/F16? Fedora 15 has reached it's end of life as of June 26, 2012. As a result, we will not be fixing any remaining bugs found in Fedora 15. In the event that you have upgraded to a newer release and the bug you reported is still present, please reopen the bug and set the version field to the newest release you have encountered the issue with. Before doing so, please ensure you are testing the latest kernel update in that release and attach any new and relevant information you may have gathered. Thank you for taking the time to file a report. We hope newer versions of Fedora suit your needs. I just recently reinstalled Fedora on this laptop (17), and suspend still (mis)behaves the same way with all of the latest updates as of today. I discovered that this laptop has "switchable" graphics (integrated+dedicated chipsets). If I change "switchable" to "discrete" in the BIOS, suspend works. With the laptop in "discrete" mode, gnome system settings reports the graphics driver as "Gallium 0.4 on AMD CEDAR". In "switchable" mode, it reports "Gallium 0.4 on AMD RS880". The running kernel version is 3.4.4-5. |
Created attachment 487434 [details] pm-suspend.log Description of problem: Testing suspend from Gnome-shell menu and using pm-suspend on my Acer Aspire 5553G-5357 laptop. Suspend works properly, but when attempting to restore the system, everything appears to come back properly except for the screen, which remains powered off. Trying to use the hardware toggle key for the screen (Fn+F6 for this laptop model) does nothing. I'm pretty sure that the system is otherwise fully restored because I have the synergy client running, and using another PCs keyboard, I am able to blindly switch to a virtual console, log in and issue a sudo reboot command. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): pm-utils-1.4.1-7.fc15 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select Suspend from the gnome user menu or run sudo pm-suspend from a terminal 2. Computer appears to suspend successfully 3. Press power button or key to restore Actual results: Wifi is restored, can operate system blindly using remote keyboard via synergy, screen remains powered off Expected results: Screen should power back on.
