Description of problem:
Fedora 14 -->clicking on the openoffice icon causes a temporary icon to appear for about 30 seconds, then it disappears

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
OOo_3.3.0_Linux_x86_install-rpm-wJRE_en-US.tar.gz

How reproducible:


Steps to Reproduce:
1.install via http://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2010/install-openoffice-org-on-fedora-centos-red-hat-rhel/
2.click on the Fedora apps menu for starting openoffice installed by the procedure in (1)
3.it should open and work well
4. yum update (one entry was for open office)
5. repeat (2) 

 
Actual results:
temorary icon disappears

Expected results:
(3) above

Additional info:renaming directory user to userXYZ did nothing
running setupdid not allow any actions showing "no selection made"

We do not support the upstream packages. Anyway, from the description I guess that openoffice.org-ure had been updated from Fedora repo. Just add

exclude=openoffice.org*

to every enabled Fedora repo (/etc/yum.repos.d/fedora*.repo)

, remove all openoffice.org packages, install them again from the upstream source and it should be okay.

here is how to install openoffice 3.3.0 on Fedora 14

might better start with
yum remove "openoffice*"
in case old versions remain

>yum install yumex
run yumex from the Fedora 14 popup menu under "system" (lower left on my computer)
select radio button "all"
wait
type "openoffice" into search slot and hit return (or select the binocularx)

put a check mark in each entry row that has "openoffice" in it
