Since I have to generate printed output, I had to abandon Fedora14 for OpenSuSE 11.4 64-bit AMD. The driver which comes with OpenSuSE works flawlessly. Would really appreciate it if you could report what this command says: grep ^.NickName /etc/cups/ppd/*.ppd (just the line relevant to this printer) (In reply to comment #8) > Would really appreciate it if you could report what this command says: > > grep ^.NickName /etc/cups/ppd/*.ppd > > (just the line relevant to this printer) If you had asked a week ago, when all of the other exchanges where taking place, I could have gladly helped. As I stated, I needed a functioning version of Linux, so had to wipe Fedor 14 and install OpenSuSE 11.4 64-bit AMD. All printer drivers worked "out of the box" with OpenSuSE. I can get back to earning a living now. I'm asking you to run that command on OpenSuSE. Would just like to know which driver works there. I know you can no longer run Fedora 14, but of course I would still like to fix whatever problem caused this. (In reply to comment #10) > I'm asking you to run that command on OpenSuSE. raw data
I'm attaching the raw data generated on F14 from test page by the
bannertops -> pstops -> pstoraster -> rastertogutenprint.5.2
filter chain.
Would you print (on OpenSuSE) this with
'lp -oraw -dEPSON-Stylus-COLOR-880 testpage.dat', please ?
That way we'd be able to know if the problem is the backend rather than the filter.

Here ya go
Not only do you have a front end problem, you have a front end problem that hoses the back end. I haven't been using that printer for a few days, but wanted to print some color stuff off Mapquest. Nothing black printed. Tried some text only stuff, only table header printed faintly. Test page came out blank. I had to power off BOTH the printer and my computer to clear whatever your file left hanging around. Sorry we weren't able to fix this. Closing as insufficient data because I don't want to keep bugging you to do tests now that you're running another OS, and we haven't been able to track down anyone running Fedora with this particular model of printer. |
