Description Bill Nottingham 2011-03-29 02:14:37 UTC
Description of problem:

1) I conenct:

I have:
tun0 Link encap:UNSPEC HWaddr 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00
          inet addr:10.3.112.4 P-t-P:10.3.112.4 Mask:255.255.255.0

with valid routes, DNS, etc.

However, the NM shell dialog shows the three dots.

2) Rather than try and ask me every time, it keeps saving the password. Not useful.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

NetworkManager-openvpn-0.8.995-1.fc15.x86_64

Comment 1 Bill Nottingham 2011-04-06 22:16:27 UTC
1) is fixed with the current shell.

2) still happens with 0.8.998.

Comment 2 Andrew Overholt 2011-04-08 12:52:02 UTC
2) affects me, too. I've changed the summary to reflect. I've got NetworkManager-openvpn-0.8.995-1.fc15.x86_64

Comment 3 Bill Nottingham 2011-04-11 16:51:13 UTC
This is fixed in NetworkManager-openvpn-0.8.998-1.git20110405.fc15.x86_64; you can either reimport the connection, or set:

password-flags=3

in the [vpn] section of your /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/<name> file.

Comment 5 Patrick C. F. Ernzer 2011-07-19 15:41:39 UTC
odd, I still ran into this bug with NetworkManager-openvpn-0.8.999-1.fc15.x86_64
might be something with this specific machine, have to set up ovpn on one other box anyway, will re-open bug if the passwords are indeed still saved with 0.8.999-1.fc15

Comment 6 Patrick C. F. Ernzer 2011-07-19 18:29:15 UTC
2nd box with 0.8.999-1.fc15.x86_64 where passwords are saved. reopening.

doing the manual edit described in Comment 3 does disable the password saving.

# rpm -qa NetworkManager\*
NetworkManager-openvpn-0.8.999-1.fc15.x86_64

NetworkManager-vpnc-0.8.999-2.fc15.x86_64
NetworkManager-0.8.9997-5.git20110702.fc15.x86_64

Comment 7 Vinny Valdez 2011-07-25 21:02:38 UTC
New install, same behavior. Comment 3 works until you edit the connection from nm-connection-editor or GNOME Network Settings, then this setting is lost and passwords saved again.
