Description J.H.M. Dassen (Ray) 2011-03-31 09:13:29 UTC
2. What is the nature and description of the request?

CU needs ccsm package in RHEL6. The desktop effects configuration dialogue in
RHEL6 offers turning it on and off, and simple settings for a few of the main
plugins. There are some annoying effects/behavior which are unconfigurable
(easily) without ccsm, and many plugins available on RHEL6 which can't
configure (graphically at least) at all.

3. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)

Customer has approx 550 Red Hat clients / desktops. Many of their users utilise
graphical products and tools.

As compiz has been made on RHEL6 and works (with the NVIDIA driver installed)
they require some means to allow us to configure it, other than scripting gconf
hacks. They have found that the Fedora 12 ccsm tool does work in RHEL6 (Fedora
12 uses the same version of compiz) and would like to request ccsm be ported
into RHEL6.

Without it, using Compiz in gnome is a very frustrating experience for them.
e.g. The Compiz Scale plugin (a clone of Mac Expose) will activate every time
the user moves the mouse to the top right hand corner. This is regular
occurrence for anyone trying to close a maximised window! With ccsm or a cut
down version thereof they would have the capability to control how the plugins
work.

As it stands they have product, but no sensible means to configure it.

4. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functtional
requirements here)

Include ccsm package for RHEL-6

5. For each functional requirement listed in question 4, specify how Red Hat
and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully
implemented.

They will install the

6. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat bugzilla?

No

7. How quickly does this need resolved? (desired target release)

This is not a blocker issue for RHEL-6.1 so I will say RHEL-6.2 will be the
desired target release.

8. Does this request meet the RHEL Inclusion criteria (please review)

Yes

9. List the affected packages

compiz

10. Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if
implemented?

yes
