Could you please provide the output of 'lpinfo -l -v'? Similar issue here where an HP LaserJet 4000 N is installed choosing the JetDirect interface: Hewlett-Packard HP LaserJet 4000 Series **** Incorrect IEEE 1284 Device ID: [u'drv:///hp/hpijs.drv/hp-laserjet_4000_series-hpijs-pcl3.ppd'] **** Actual ID is MFG:Hewlett-Packard;MDL:HP LaserJet 4000 Series; **** Please report a bug against the HPLIP component The cause of this issue might be that hpijs is actually lacking the configuration file hp-laserjet_4000_series-hpijs-pcl3.ppd. Could you both please provide the output of this command?: su -c 'lpinfo -l -v' (Christoph: no, that isn't really a filename, so there is no file missing.) Created attachment 504473 [details] Output of 'lpinfo -l -v' (In reply to comment #3) Command 'lpinfo -l -v' does not return anything meaningful. However, 'lpstat -t' surely reports an HP LaserJet 4000 N up and running: $ lpstat -t scheduler is running system default destination: HP-LaserJet-4000-PS device for HP-LaserJet-4000-PS: socket://192.168.2.2:9100 HP-LaserJet-4000-PS accepting requests since Sun 12 Jun 2011 08:41:53 PM CEST printer HP-LaserJet-4000-PS is idle. enabled since Sun 12 Jun 2011 08:41:53 PM CEST (In reply to comment #3) > no, that isn't really a filename, so there is no file missing. I am not so sure about this claim: there are distributions and packages which do include hp-laserjet_4000_series-hpijs-pcl3.ppd.gz, e.g. see http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/opensuse/updates/11.3/x86_64/hplip-hpijs-3.10.2-2.3.1.x86_64.html . Christoph: could you please show me the output of this command?: /usr/lib/cups/backend/snmp 192.168.2.2 Thanks.
