Serial console of failed boot
I see this as well. It's a KVM guest, but I doubt that matters. Attaching serial console output of failed boot from Fedora-15-Alpha-x86_64-DVD/Fedora-15-Alpha-x86_64-DVD.iso.
FWIW, it does boot on a 640MB system, but we really should support 512MB as an absolute minimum. 256MB would be better though. There are changes being prepared that should decrease the memory needed for the installer init filesystem, but those will miss F15. Also note that the installer (especially in the early phase) is not able to take advantage of any swap area. I am very sorry, but if F15 cannot install on a 512MB system, that is a *serious* issue that should delay the release until it is fixed. There is plenty of systems out there with 512MB in them, and cutting them off like this is not good enough. If I'm not mistaken, F14 x86_64 required more than 512M as well, but F14 i386 didn't. Don't know whether F15 i386 requires more than 512M, would have to do some test installs to find out. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 682555 *** FWIW F14 x86_64 installs fine on a 512MB system, just done it here. |
