Description of problem:
Selecting Applications under gnome shell displays a grid of over-large icons which are all washed out and illegible.  The icons under the other categories are OK - (still too big IMHO).

Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. login to  gnome-shell
2. press window key
3. select Applications
  
Actual results:
application icons are illegible

Expected results:
normal icon display

Additional info:

running a dual head configuration with an nvidia graphics card (Gallium 0.4 NV86). monitors are in portrait mode
