This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping |
I access to the internet via a gsm modem. The connection name is "ppp0". My computer also has an ethernet connecion ("eth0"), that has no cable connected, so it's not used. I have the "network monitor" plasmoid added to my kde panel, in order to see my internet usage. So I right click on the plasmoid and go to plasmoid's Preferences, but the connection list only has "eth0", there is no "ppp0" connection. So I say, "ok let's tray with "eth0", so I enable the eth0 connection to be monitored. Result: Nothing is shown at the plasmoid (as expected), just 2 horizontal blue and green lines (no activity). But, if I go again to the plasmoid Preferences, I can see 2 connections now: eth0 (selected) and ppp0 (unselected)!! How is this possible? ppp0 was automagically added after enabling the monitorization of eth0! So I say "ok, let's enable ppp0 and disable eth0". And then the plasmoid works correctly (my internet activity is shown in the graphic). But, if I disconnect from the internet ("ifdown ppp0" command), the graphic is frozen (stopped), and if I go to the plasmoid Preferences, I see that the "ppp0" connection has disappeared!! Anyway, I don't change the preferences. I just say "ok, no problem if the graphic is frozen; it's not perfect, but not critical". Then I connect again to the internet ("ifup ppp0"), and I can see that the graphic is refreshed (cleared) and works again correctly. Ok. Then I reboot my computer, go to the plasmoid preferences, and I can see that the ppp0 has disappeared again. So I say "ok, same as when I disconnected from the internet, let's tray to connect to the internet". So I connect to the internet, but the graphic doesn't show the internet activity! So I go again to the plasmoid Preferences, and see that the ppp0 is still NOT shown. And then I need to begin again the process: enable eth0, accept, go again to the plasmoid Preferences, enable ppp0 and disable eth0. So the problem seems to be: everytime I reboot my computer, I have to change the Preferences of System Monitor plasmoid in order to see my gsm internet activity. Maybe a bug in the plasmoid or an error in my system configuration? Any suggestion? Software: kdeplasma-addons-4.6.1-1.fc14.i686 Thanks
