Description Izhar Firdaus 2011-04-06 02:20:10 UTC
Description of problem:
When firefox crashed/killed by user, relaunching firefox brings the about:sessionrestore page which gives an option to restore previous tabs. However, in Fedora, only a modal dialog saying "The URL is not valid and could not be loaded" appears.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
firefox-4.0-2.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch firefox
2. Open several tabs
3. Kill firefox using kill -9
4. Relaunch firefox

Actual results:
A modal dialog appear saying "The URL is not valid and could not be loaded". No page was loaded

Expected results:
A session restore page appear which allow to restore tabs

Additional info:
Theres a similar bug which affect the warning page for pages identified as attack sites. Instead of showing a warning page, only "The URL is not valid and could not be loaded" modal dialog appear.

One site which can be used to test is http://chedet.co.cc .. On a fresh firefox profile, it loads fine, but after several minutes, where firefox already get a new blacklist, the error modal dialog appear and the site becomes not loadable.

Thanks for the bug report. We have reviewed the information you have provided above, and there is some additional information we require that will be helpful in our diagnosis of this issue.

I cannot reproduce here with firefox-4.0-3.fc15.x86_64 (about:sessionrestore opens just fine here). So, we need more information to be able to reproduce the issue here.

1) Are you able to reproduce this when running firefox in the safe mode (i.e., run it with parameter -safe-mode on the command line)
2) Are you able to reproduce the problem with the upstream binary from
http://www.firefox.com/?
3) Are you able to reproduce the problem with a fresh profile?
4) Do you find any relevant errors in the Javascript Console (Ctrl+Shift+J)?

Thank you for your cooperation and helping to make Fedora more awesome!

We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information.

Thanks in advance.

hi

seems like the problem disappeared on firefox-4.0-3.fc15.x86_64 .. probably theres something in the update fixed it..

i guess this ticket can be closed now :)

thanks!

I'm having this issue now with firefox-4.0.1-2.fc15.x86_64. Can we re-open? The "not valid" message pops up after a crash (in which case old session information is not available) or when entering "about:sessionrestore" in the location bar. (The former is hard to reproduce, but the latter is reliable.)

Well, I tried on another system and can't reproduce, so it must have something to do with something missing or corrupted in my .mozilla directory.
