Description David Dreggors 2011-04-08 19:36:04 UTC
Description of problem:
Not sure if this is the place for this, I cannot seem to find another place to make a request.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
2.4.x

How reproducible:
Everytime

Steps to Reproduce:
1. yum install/update openldap openldap-servers openldap-client

Actual results:
Version 2.3.43 installed/updated

Expected results:
Version 2.4.19 installed/updated

Additional info:
Please update the yum repos for RHEL5.x to contain the latest versions of openldap used in RHEL 6.

The version in RHEL 6 (2.4.19) contains features not available in the version (2.3.43) for RHEL 5. The src rpm for RHEL6 has been installed and spec file modified to build under RHEL 5.x/CentOS 5.x by others but many companies (including my own) will not use custom built packages. They only accept packages provided by the vendor (i.e. Redhat).

Since you already have this rpm built for RHEL 6 can you please rebuild the updated openldap rpms for RHEL 5.x?

Inclusion of OpenLDAP 2.4 into RHEL-5 is not planned. If you really need it, please, contact your support representative.

Closing this bug as NEXTRELEASE.
