syslog messages

Description of problem:
Installer is unable to configure network during startup (in stage1) if iBFT is used. Syslog contains:

12:25:43,341 NOTICE NetworkManager: ifcfg-rh: updating /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
12:25:43,345 WARNING NetworkManager: ifcfg-rh: error: Missing device MAC address (no HWADDR tag present).
12:25:43,345 NOTICE NetworkManager: ifcfg-rh: removed /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0.

Issue occurs only in case of iBFT, "standard" network setup passes without issue. As error message says ifcfg-eth0 is missing HWADDR=. It is missing this value also in case of "standard" network setup, probably BOOTPROTO=ibft has to be counted here.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
RHEL6.1-20110406.0
anaconda 13.21.111

Reproducer:
Use iBFT hw

I hear that the same thing happens with cxgb3i partial offload iscsi card (with
ibft).

Comment 4 Radek Vykydal 2011-04-13 11:23:48 UTC
This is caused by bug #690589.

Comment 7 David Cantrell 2011-04-13 19:57:42 UTC
Radek has confirmed that patch 02398bf054de532bdbe64ce88239a30b208bcd62 is causing this bug (as well as bug #696198). Reverting the patch resolves the issue. The patch was originally introduced for bug #690589, but was really more of a completeness thing and not really solving a problem.

Requesting pm_ack and blocker approval so we can revert this patch in anaconda. I will mark 690589 as devel_ack- since we will be removing the patch for it.

Comment 8 RHEL Program Management 2011-04-13 19:59:35 UTC
This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion
in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux maintenance release. Product Management has
requested further review of this request by Red Hat Engineering, for potential
inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update release for currently deployed
products. This request is not yet committed for inclusion in an Update release.

Comment 10 Radek Vykydal 2011-04-15 12:42:04 UTC
This should be fixed with revert of bug #690589 in anaconda-13.21.113-1.
