Description Bruce O. Benson 2011-04-16 06:48:53 UTC
Description of problem:

At...
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/query.cgi

In 'Simple Search', there is no way to select a Fedora version.
In 'Advance Search', there is a way to select a Fedora version....I select 'Fedora', 'Fedora', reload the page, and then I can select a version of Fedora.

If I have a suggestion to place some JS in one or both pages to have the version loaded for the onclick of 'Fedora', should that bug go here or upstream?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Imagine thinking there may be a bug in your Fedora installation
2. Decide to search bugzilla.redhat.com to see if something similar exists.
3. Browse to http://bugzilla.redhat.com
4. Login
5. Select 'Search'. The browser is sent to "https://bugzilla.redhat.com/query.cgi" and the 'Simple Search' is presented.
6. Select a Product of "Fedora" from the drop box.
7. Wonder why another drop box wasn't immediately rendered to allow selection of the Fedora version, so enter some search Words related to the bug, and click 'Search'. I promise I'm not being snippy, but that's pretty common now in support sites that ask for product selection. Well OK every single support site I've been to except bugzilla wants to present a drop box immediately for a specific version of a product as soon as the product is selected.
8. See many, many bugs, some from all the way back to Fedora 10.
9. Ooops...can't sort results by date (maybe that's 165187).
10. Try adding "F15" to search terms, and repeating.
11. Try adding "Fedora 15" to search terms, and repeating.
12. Try adding "rawhide" to search terms, and repeating.
13. Go to advanced search page. Repeat item 7. If the Components, Versions, etc. are likely to change when the 'Classification' is selected, then why not abstain from loading anything, then good UI practice would withhold a column if it's not applicable of could lead to erroneous assumptions. The UI designer could place a 'Select' button under 'Classification', and place one row in the rest of the selectors that says 'select a Classification'. This is made especially confusing due to the fact that only 'Product' is updated when a 'Classification' is selected. They should all update, or none.

This is a feature of Bugzilla 4.0, and will be fixed when we move to that version.
