Comment 1 Matthias Clasen 2011-04-29 00:17:01 UTC
I can confirm this. Alacarte writes menu files with exclusions to ~/.config/menus. For some reason, that doesn't seem to work

Comment 2 Paul Lambert 2011-07-24 20:09:16 UTC
Menus enhance productivity and represent a shortcut to frequently used applications. All system and user configuration applications should also be displayed in a file manager window such as controls or system (settings). Currently, Fedora using Gnome 3 power users are completely handicapped with neither the ability to customize their menus nor find all of the setting tools listed in system settings.

The Gnome 2 interface should have been ported and preserved while being relabelled as "Gnome Classic Desktop." Users could then easily switch between the appropriate interface for their level of use. Gnome 3 has little attraction to any on above 8 years old. It has nice 3D rendered icons that are great for children to launch their games from but if your computer is used in a work environment where productivity matters, except for fixing many Gnome 2 bugs and improving the window displays, Gnome 3 represents a suboptimal solution for power users.

Unfortunately for the Fedora this will turn out to be another bad rap as many power users (and debuggers) are scrambling to find a new solution. I tried XFCE based on some good reviews. A complete waste of time that has taken me two days to recover from as it will break Gnome 3 when your remove XFCE. This is on top of the F15 release that would not even boot on my laptop after using preupgrade. This was never fixed so after 2 months I was able to use a recent release of an ananconda installer image to get F15 running.

Comment 3 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 18:19:48 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
