Patch to add IPv6 information to output of pifconfig
I'm attaching a candidate patch, which adds "inet6 addr" lines to the output of pifconfig for any IPv6 addresses
BTW, does anyone actually use "pifconfig", or is it just a test script? This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion in the current release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Because the affected component is not scheduled to be updated in the current release, Red Hat is unfortunately unable to address this request at this time. Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to propose this request, if appropriate and relevant, in the next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. But it is a useful example of how to use py-ethtool to extract data. Description of problem: Command line utility "pifconfig" does not support IPv6. If a device is configured IPv6-only it is not listed at all. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): python-ethtool-0.6-1.el6.x86_64 Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have a network device with IPv6 configured 2. Run pifconfig Actual results: lo inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 UP LOOPBACK RUNNING eth0 HWaddr 00:14:5e:6d:a6:88 inet addr:10.16.113.8 Bcast:10.16.115.255 Mask:255.255.252.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST Expected results: IPv6 related info displayed as well.
