Initial install of Fedora 14 x86_64 from DVD booted into a high-resolution text mode for the initial part of the install, then presented me with a blank screen after that.
Re-doing the install with the standard VGA mode worked, and gave me the correct 1920x1080 video resolution, but using the VESA driver in xorg.conf.
Full system update performed as of 20/04/2011.

Removing /etc/X11/xorg.conf and rebooting still boots me into the VESA driver.

Comment 1 Mark Watts 2011-04-20 20:44:39 UTC
I've rebuilt libdrm-2.4.24-1 from F15 and xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.15.0-2 from RawHide (2.14 from F15 gives me a compile error). (Also, removing nomodeset from grub.conf gives me a console framebuffer.)

This appears to work - I see the following in glxinfo output:

OpenGL vendor string: Tungsten Graphics, Inc
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Sandybridge Mobile GEM 20100330 DEVELOPMENT
OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 7.9
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.20

The following still do not work though:

- Anything involving 3D; glxgears, Desktop Effects
- Any attempt to detect more than on connected monitor (only tried with a HDMI connected 1080p TV)

Any of these operations will crash X back to the GUI login screen.

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-16 12:02:36 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
