Description James 2011-04-21 21:32:46 UTC
Description of problem:
When I attached my HP Deskjet F2280 printer to a fresh Fedora 15 beta install (up-to-date as of 2011-04-21), nothing happened. I received no notification that it had been attached or offer to install the relevant driver.

To get the printer working, I had to manually install the HPIJS suite and add the printer via system-config-printer.

Hi James,

do you have installed system-config-printer-udev and gnome-settings-daemon?

Marek

Comment 2 James 2011-04-22 11:01:21 UTC
$ rpm -q gnome-settings-daemon system-config-printer-udev
gnome-settings-daemon-3.0.0.1-1.fc15.i686
system-config-printer-udev-1.3.2-2.fc15.i686

Comment 3 Marek Kašík 2011-04-22 11:23:07 UTC
Is it possible to add the printer with System Settings -> Printers ? What does "lpinfo -l -v" returns?

Comment 4 James 2011-04-22 12:03:58 UTC
Odd, it seems to be working now. Can't think why, maybe something crashed in the previous session. Can't see anything incriminating in the system or SELinux logs, either.

Oh well...

Hi,

I'm closing this bug because it works for the reporter now (see comment #4).
