Fixed In Version: Doc Type: Bug Fix
Doc Text:
I downloaded the full DVD ISO for Fedora 15 Beta x86_64 a couple days ago. I ran the installer and it crashed near the end and did not install the grub package. My platform is ASUS MB, AMD Phenom II x4 955, Virtualbox 4.04 Windows 7 64-bit host and installing Fedora 15 Beta as a guest. Fedora 14 x86_64 works fine as guest. I had to run the rescue feature to mount the unfinished install partitions with a shell and then manually installed the grub rpm from the DVD. I reran the install with the upgrade option, and then grub-install succeeded to put the bootloader on /dev/sda. Then I rebooted, and it starts to boot and panics, but that is a different issue.

Looks like you have bad media or a bad optical drive. Lot of errors in syslog.

This is not a problem with install media; I get this from a network install.

Comment 12 Chris Adams 2011-11-23 15:26:06 UTC
Ignore my report; somehow my network boot server was serving the F15 kernel/initrd for F16 installs (maybe anaconda should at least throw a warning with such a mismatch).

Sorry for the noise.
