How to reproduce
-----
1. Recently got USB 2 card (on this old laptop)
2. More recently (paid too much for) getting a Bluetooth dongle.
3. Yesterday, I wondered why I could not get HAL to just go find everything... (ha ha)
4. This morning, after reboot, looked for gpsd [ps -ef | grep 'gps[d]' ] -- it was there!
5. The "SEE ALSO" manual page heading led me to install gnuplot (without much preperation).

How to reproduce
-----
1. Man page for gpsprof said that it defaults as "gpsplot -f space"
2. Seems that I have to look at this more closely... the device mus be in the wrong "port"
3. (which explains the un-recognized python variables... the is nothing "there."
