Description DemetrisK 2011-04-23 14:08:11 UTC
Description of problem:
The kana characters of the font VL PGothic are not displayed correctly after update of the vlgothic-fonts package today.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. use VLPGOTHIC on Firefox/Tagaini Jisho/gwibber and probably other apps
2. display text in hiragana and katakana
3.

Actual results:
For example, the hiragana string "WA RU I" appears as "wa RU i" with lower case romaji to signify small hiragana characters, the one that one obtains with the key sequence xwa, xi.
Utsukushi as xuTSUKUZA.
Mixed script sting "nihon no fonto" (Kanji_hiragana_katakana) has it's kana parts rendered as 'NE ByoWODE".
Katakana N appears as katakana WO_dakuten and so on.

Expected results:

Please attach the screenshot. I don't see any problems on gedit nor gucharmap say.

Comment 2 DemetrisK 2011-04-25 07:35:11 UTC
Cannot reproduce it anymore. Still can figure out was caused it, but it doesn't happen anymore.

Comment 3 DemetrisK 2011-04-25 07:35:37 UTC
*can't figure

Comment 4 Akira TAGOH 2011-04-25 08:34:49 UTC
is it maybe a cache issue or something? anyway, I'll close this so far. please reopen if you see this issue again. thanks.

Comment 5 Mamoru TASAKA 2011-04-25 13:50:17 UTC
I saw this issue immediately after I upgraded vlgothic-fonts from
20101218 to 20110414. firefox or thunderbird showed very strange
Japanese strings. After relogin to GNOME session the issue disappeared.

Actually often I see this issue when upgrading fonts, i.e. in some cases
relogin is needed after upgrading fonts.

Comment 6 Nicolas Mailhot 2011-04-25 15:42:24 UTC
This is a mozilla bug (both in firefox & thunderbird), it has nothing to do with a specific font, please report it upstream
