Description Robin Green 2011-04-24 19:06:19 UTC
Description of problem:
When a second user logs in via "Switch User" from the "K menu", he or she cannot connect to a wireless network. The existing network connections, if any, remain connected, but if he or she needs to reconnect, nothing happens.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kde-plasma-networkmanagement-0.9-0.44.20110323.fc15.i686

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log in
2. Connect to wireless network
3. Switch user
4. Log in as different user
5. Reboot wifi router
6. Try to reconnect to wireless network using the KDE networkmanager plasmoid

Actual results:
Nothing happens

Expected results:
Should ask for wireless network password, and then connect

Additional info:
According to a comment on another bug report, support for this scenario has been added in NM 0.9 "and is working in Fedora 15" (presumably in Gnome only)

Comment 1 Rex Dieter 2011-04-25 12:47:13 UTC
Support for nm-0.9's system connections is simply not present in plasma-nm

There's a chance that it never will in f15 lifecycle, but we'll see.

Comment 2 Rex Dieter 2011-06-24 11:49:55 UTC
Fwiw, we're currently undergoing tests of native nm-0.9 client support.

Comment 3 Rex Dieter 2011-08-13 15:05:05 UTC
native nm09 support with systemconnections are now supported by recent kde-plasma-networkmanagement updates
