How to reproduce
-----
i have data with groupping set
first and last column is excluded from groupping
when groupped data is shown and i select only first and last column and click on create graph, everything works fine
if i click hide group to hide columns (that minus sign which is shown on the top above column names) and then choose only first and last column, from which i want to create graph then, crash happens
first column contains labels which should be on X axis, last column contains sum of all groupped values in that row
in first and last column, 3 rows are merged, in between these columns rows are not groupped

IMHO this has the same root cause as bug 657807, i.e., there is a bug in creating complex categories for axis.
