If it helps, please note that I had just installed GIMP because I needed to edit a jpg.
I had never run GIMP on this system or user ID before (it wasn't installed).
So I installed GIMP, which went fine.
It just won't start.

Thanks

How to reproduce
-----
1.Browsed to a jpg file in Nautilus.
2.Right-clicked the file and chose "Open with GNU Image Manipulation Program"
3.Program crash.

Backtrace analysis of bugs across components suggests the actual bug might be in component glibc instead of component gimp. You might want to inspect the backtraces from the bugs listed below to find out the correct component.

Comment 3 Steve Litzkow 2012-03-31 12:57:35 UTC
This system experienced hardware problems shortly after this bug was created. Those same hardware problems created issues with other applications running on the system. So, I believe the issue was hardware related. That old system is now gone because it was in such bad shape anyway.
Closing this bug.
