The video displayed in cheese is in black and white

Open cheese

Black and white image is displayed

Expected results:

Colour picture is expected

Hi,

This is likely caused by wrong saturation/hue settings. Can you try the following: go to edit -> preferences, and then set all the sliders below image properties to their middle position.

This should fix this, if it does we need to find out how the settings got wrong in the first place (you're not the first person to hit this).

Yes that did solve the problem :) I guess the default settings went awry then.

Ok, I investigated this a bit, and there is a bug where the default value for saturation is wrong, causing this bw issue. This has been fixed in cheese-3.0.1. And my college Matthias has just done a build of cheese-3.0.1 for Fedora 15, so I'm closing this one.

Sometimes cheese can't fix the saturation and other problems due to a limited set of preferences. 
So it is better to install this program which gives more control and more features. 
dnf install gtk-v4l
or sudo dnf install gtk-v4l
