yay, see that at some point in fc16-gnome (in last week or so?) that the freq monitors are now dancing to indicate cpu freq variations! :') currently running: avant-window-manager-0.4.1-0.4.bzr830.fc16 (x86_64) awn-extras-applets-0.4.2-0.6.bzr1537.fc16 (x86_64) kernel-3.1.2-1.fc16 (x86_64) (havent checked any fc15 installs lately though works in fc16) hmm orig machine still shows varying cpu freq by text at mouseover and by picture without mouseover but found a similar machine
(same mfr/model/bios version)
with same package versions as far as i can see
that the awn cpufreq icon stays maxed
even though the mouseover shows changing freqs.
click on working machine and
get cpu scaling dialog with selectable radio buttons
click on non-working machine and get
'scaling unavailable.
frequency scaling is not available
for the selected cpu.'
checked with both running:
avant-window-manager-0.4.1-0.4.bzr830.fc16 (x86_64)
awn-extras-applets-0.4.2-0.6.bzr1537.fc16 (x86_64)
kernel-3.1.7-1.fc16 (x86_64)
will try to dig log files a bit more for differences in cpu
summary: cpufreq missing dependency? later found another non-working machine but the good news is i think it might just be a missing dependency: gnome-applets-1:3.2.1-2.fc16.x86_64 which i must have installed on the working machine but not the non-working ones because when i happened to install it on the non-working machines the formerly frozen cpufreq icons started to dance (next time the machine power cycled)! is it time to amend the dependency for awn-extras-applets to require gnome-applets soon before i forget how to fix this for the next time or did i misread the tealeaves? :') This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping |
