Attached traceback automatically from anaconda.
Could you attach /var/log/messages as well? Created attachment 495603 [details]
Content of /var/log/messages right after anaconda's crash
I've attached the contents of /var/log/messages.
Note however that in the meantime I've rebooted the machine so the previously attached dump and the now attached log file may not match.
Please let me know whether this is critical, I'll then try to attach a matching pair of debug stuff.
How to reproduce: Insert the Fedora 15 Beta Live DvD, let grub boot with default options (after the 10 seconds being passed by), then within Gnome3 chose "Install to Hard Drive", select keyboard, timezone, root pasword and so on...
formatting the partitions seems to be done correctly. At least when trying the install again, anaconda then asks for the password in order to decrypt the partitions.
The whole install works until anaconda begins to copy the live image to the hard drive. It then fails with the previously attached traceback.
Hope this helps
~ Philipp
I'd like to install F15-Beta via the Installer DvD instead of the live medium in order to get a working system. Please reply whether you still need the current environment for debugging. I'd then wait for your bug analysis to be finished. On the other hand, the outcome of an crypted install by the installer dvd may yield additional hints for debugging. Dunno... Thank you ^.~ ~ Philipp On a sidenote: anaconda asks for the password in order to decrypt /dev/sda7 (which is the swap partition, anaconda obviously managed to encrypt properly). "/", which is /dev/sda6 doesn't seem to have been properly encrypted. Created attachment 495768 [details]
Video recording of how to reproduce the bug
Meanwhile I've installed F15-Beta via the installer DvD. It worked flawlessly and there was a notable difference to the live installer: In the live installer I wasn't asked about the package selection. The installer DVD did ask me. I don't know whether that's normal behavior, as I don't use the live installer that often . Right - there's no package selection in the live installer. It just blasts the entire contents of the live DVD onto your hard drive. One never stops learning... thanks for clarification. Did I overlook it or is this behavior not mentioned in the installer? In case it isn't, wouldn't it be advisable to display a hint at the beginning of the installer? I don't know whether it's just me, but I'm a bit surprised by this behavior. I probably would have chosen the installer DvD if I had been aware of this, dunno... This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping |
