I just logged out then logged back in and all the Applications were back, so a reboot is not needed to fix it, but even after exiting all my apps before logging out, the screen was still stuck with just one app icon. After logging back in, I started up a root emacs again, but the Applications are all still there, so that theory is shot. I just booted my f15 partition, used the Applications menu to run a terminal (from the looks of it, gnome-terminal) by clicking on it in the System Tools group. I then did a su -l in that terminal and ran yum --skip-broken update. Following the installation of all the updates, I went back to the Applications menu, and once again, there is only the one icon for AcquireImages, so it appears that this may well have something to do with getting updates. There were not very many, the set I got just now was: Updated: gnome-session.x86_64 0:3.0.1-2.fc15 gnome-session-xsession.x86_64 0:3.0.1-2.fc15 kdebase-workspace.x86_64 0:4.6.2-6.fc15 kdebase-workspace-devel.x86_64 0:4.6.2-6.fc15 kdebase-workspace-libs.x86_64 0:4.6.2-6.fc15 kdm.x86_64 0:4.6.2-6.fc15 ksysguardd.x86_64 0:4.6.2-6.fc15 mutter.x86_64 0:3.0.1-3.fc15 openssh.x86_64 0:5.6p1-31.fc15.1 openssh-askpass.x86_64 0:5.6p1-31.fc15.1 openssh-clients.x86_64 0:5.6p1-31.fc15.1 openssh-server.x86_64 0:5.6p1-31.fc15.1 plasma-scriptengine-python.x86_64 0:4.6.2-6.fc15 gnome-shell-3.0.0.2-2.fc15.x86_64 This is fixed in GNOME Shell 3.0.1, which was in updates-testing, and is now tagged for pushing to stable. |
