Description Jason Haar 2011-05-04 22:02:28 UTC
Description of problem:

I just went to change what WLAN network I was connected to, and clicking on the wireless icon (top right corner) created a dropbox that covered the entire length of the screen. The wireless section showed 4 of the available ESSIDs, and a "More.." button for the rest. The one I wanted wasn't in there, so I clicked on the "More...".

As the dropbox already covered the length of the screen, the GUI failed to show me any more wireless options! Clicking "More" expands *underneath* the rest of the dropbox (instead of pushing those settings down).

This is a widescreen laptop, and has 1 "wired", 4+More "wireless", 2 "Mobile broadband", 4 "VPN" plus "Network Settings".

It's too much for the screensize/font - it needs a scrollbar :-/

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

NetworkManager-0.8.998-4.git20110427.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:

always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:

Expected results:

I think a scrollbar will be the only scalable option? I intended to have up to 50 VPN connectors in there (I'm not kidding!), so the current model doesn't work

Thanks!

This is actually deficiency of all (most) Gnome shell applets which you can add entries to.
If you add more entries to them, they will get too long and the bottom part gets hidden bellow screen bottom - no scrollbars, no access to bottom part (containing Settings option).

It's most easily reproducible with network applet because where can be many WiFi networks + VPN entries + mobile broadband. However, you can quite easily make bluetooth applet too long via adding handfull bluetooth devices to it.

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 17:39:48 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
