fencing test patch to detect and report lack of fence-agents rpm on server-side none

Description IBM Bug Proxy 2011-05-04 23:50:16 UTC
When starting v7 server on RHEL6.0 RC2. It requires to install fence-agents rpm.
However, fence-agents rpm doesn't exist in RHEL6.0 RC2 iso.
It is suggested that RedHat provides the rpm together with v7 Hardware Test suite.

Here is the console messages :

[root@jeep01 V7]# v7 server start
Tested OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 (Santiago)
Kernel RPM: kernel-2.6.32-71.el6
v7 version 1.3, release 35
Checking installed rpms:
package fence-agents is not installed
python-lxml-2.2.3-1.1.el6.ppc64
The following rpms are required for testing:
 fence-agents
Would you like to install them now? (y|n) n

I have tried v7-1.3-43 and it didn't make any difference.
I'd like to know what tests will be impacted if fence-agents missing. So far I've seen network tests working fine.

RedHat,

fence-agent is part of HA/cluster which is not supported on Power. RedHat has
to make a special case for Power to either ignore this error on Power or
provide IBM with a fix

Comment 3 Greg Nichols 2011-05-06 13:45:27 UTC
fence-agents is only needed on the v7 server to test fencing. The lack of this rpm will have no effect on other tests.

Comment 4 Rob Landry 2011-05-06 13:51:39 UTC
Fence testing is not currently required in hwcert. The v7 server rpm only needs the fence-agents to support the fence test; this message can safely be ignored for now and has been marked for review in the next release.

Comment 16 Petr Beňas 2012-03-29 08:41:34 UTC
Reproduced in v7-1.5-1.el6.noarch and verified in v7-1.5-2.el6.noarch.
