Description ben thompson 2011-05-05 20:36:26 UTC
Description of problem:
When playing a video as network stream in vlc (possibly other players) and pausing the pc freezes and /var/log/messages gets filled with line similar to the following:
*text missing* pulseaudio[2632]: ratelimit.c: 6987 events suppressed

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
pulseaudio 0.9.21

VLC media player 1.1.9 The Luggage (revision exported)
VLC version 1.1.9 The Luggage (exported)
Compiled by mockbuild on hephaestus.wilsonet.com (Apr 12 2011 15:36:27)
Compiler: gcc version 4.4.5 20101112 (Red Hat 4.4.5-2) (GCC)

How reproducible:
Happened twice, doing the same thing, so would expect further crashes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. vlc ftp://ftp.ccc.de/congress/2010/mp4-h264-HQ/27c3-4302-en-27c3_keynote_we_come_in_peace.mp4
2. let it play a bit, the pause it, and wait for pc to freeze (I was on the phone both times so don't know if it happened instantly, but within two minute)

Actual results:
pc freezes, ie mouse doesn't move, keyboard is rendered useless etc

Expected results:
not to crash and to be able to play and pause in vlc

Additional info:
Recently updated the following packages related to bug:
May 2 14:43:57 ben yum[6821]: Updated: vlc-core-1.1.9-1.fc13.x86_64
May 2 14:44:31 ben yum[6821]: Updated: vlc-1.1.9-1.fc13.x86_64

The ftp server resolved to an ipv6 address therefore was going through the 6over4 tunnel if that makes any difference.
