Description David Sommerseth 2011-05-06 07:13:16 UTC
When booting kernel-rt-vanilla-2.6.33.9-rt31.64 on boxes which needs firmware, the firmware loader cannot find the required firmware files. This behaviour can be found on boxes needing the bnx2 driver (ie,ibm-x3950m2-01.rhts.eng.bos.redhat.com or dell-per610-01.lab.bos.redhat.com).

The theory is that the kernel-rt{,-debug,-trace} kernels are patched and contains updated bnx2 drivers which loads a newer firmware. The rt-vanilla kernel is shipped with the new firmware and not the old firmware which its not updated bnx2 driver expects to use.

MRG-1 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 reached it's end of life on March 31, 2014. Because this issue is against the MRG-1 release, we are closing it WONTFIX. If you believe this is still an issue on our most recent MRG-2.5 3.10 kernel, please file a new issue for tracking.
