Description Alex Yacoub 2002-08-01 01:35:43 UTC
Description of Problem:

I assume this was a design choice, but I feel I should let you know that I
disagree with it. Gnome 2, in a departure from the Gnome 1 standard (as well as
Windows and Mac OS X, if I recall correctly) has switched the standard layout of
the Yes and No buttons and the OK and Cancel buttons in dialogs, such that yes
and ok are on the right, rather than the left. This is a ridiculous choice.

Users expect the yes answer on the right by conditioning. A left-to-right
language paradigm also dictates the positive answer to the left.

Why was this changed?

This isn't something we can patch on the Red Hat level, it's just too many
dialogs to change. We may make it part of the theme on the GTK level sometime.
But in general we would follow upstream here and the issue needs to be raised on
the gnome.org level. (It's already been raised a lot of times there, though.)

FWIW I do think Mac follows the GNOME 2 order.
