Where the message should go
Part of the problem is also the lack of feedback. Users have no reason to expect ctrl-delete, since every other system behaves normally.
If we're going to be abnormal about something so conventional, we should let the user know.
Idea:
* in nautilus, if someone presses delete with files selected, give a popup (like the type in the attached screenshot) that says, "To delete files, hold ctrl and press delete").
I would rather say "If we're going to be abnormal about something so conventional, we should let the user *choose*". The popup thing is a false solution IMHO. |
