Description rwhalb 2011-05-13 22:56:48 UTC
Description of problem:

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

[root@dev15-64 ~]# uname -a
Linux dev15-64 2.6.38.5-24.fc15.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri May 6 08:00:28 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

[root@dev15-64 ~]# rpm -q livecd-tools
livecd-tools-15.7-1.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:

livecd-creator \
--config=/usr/share/spin-kickstarts/fedora-livecd-desktop.ks \
--fslabel=Fedora-LiveCD --cache=/var/cache/live

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use livecd-creator to create a spin (Fedora LiveCD in this case)
2. After ISO is created boot it.
3. I have tried booting it many different ways (Under VmWare Workstation 7.1.4, Virtualbox, and using a live-iso-to-disk for a flash drive boot).

Actual results:

The boot process get to a point where one sees:

umount: /squashfs: not found

next one sees a series of sequential mount failure output:

mount: unknown filesystem type 'DM_snapshot_cow'
mount: unknown filesystem type 'DM_snapshot_cow'
mount: unknown filesystem type 'DM_snapshot_cow'

after that you are dropped in the dracut debug shell:

Dropping to debug shell.

sh: can't access tty; job crontrol turned off
dracut:/#

Expected results:

Live CD should boot.

Additional info:

1) Tried creating the process above a few times and one time I was successful. Could not repeat the successful time. Always rebooted Fedora 15 each time before Live CD creation. The "/dev/loop0" device sometimes does not can cleaned up from a previous livecd creation try.

2) Tried setting rd.break=mount as a parameter on the kernel boot line and poked around a little to see if I was missing something.

There's a new version of dracut working its way out to updates-testing that should fix this.

Comment 2 rwhalb 2011-05-16 11:42:33 UTC
Brian:

Updated to the new dracut: dracut-009-10.fc15.noarch

This version has fixed the above issue. Can now build ISO's again. Thank you for your support.

This bug has not been fixed so far as i got the same problem while booting Fedora 15 live USB.

My Machine:
Sony VAIO W219 Netbook
Intel Atom N470 1.83Ghz 32bit
2GB RAM
Sandisk MicroSD card

Steps i did :

Downloaded Fedora 15 ISO : http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/15/Live/i686/Fedora-15-i686-Live-Desktop.iso

Converted and transferred IOS to USB using liveusb-creator

Rebooted the machine

Fedora Boot Screen Appeared.

Started booting up...

Unexpectedly debug shell appeared and says can't access tty

Comment 4 Brian Lane 2011-08-18 16:25:27 UTC
liveusb-creator is a different tool than livecd-creator, please file a bug against liveusb-creator with as much information as you can gather. Since it stops at a debug shell a photo of the screen is probably the best you can do.

Please reopen this bug, it's still valid.
Updated from fc 14 to fc 15 and i can't build a live cd using livecd-creator, i got the same error reported here.

dracut version is dracut-009-12.fc15.noarch

TIA
  Angelo

On comment #5,
Apologize, with a better investigation i understood it was my fault, the kickstart i used was configured for fc 14 repos.
